How Asbestos Testing Works
Asbestos can't be identified by sight — the only way to know for sure is to have a sample analysed by an accredited laboratory. We organise for a qualified assessor to collect samples using controlled methods that keep fibre release to a minimum, and the results come back in a written report so you know exactly what you're dealing with.
We arrange testing for homes, sheds, garages and commercial sites across Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne's west and Western Victoria — before renovations or demolition, when buying or selling an older property, or whenever you suspect a damaged material may contain asbestos.
Old fibro sheds like this are one of the most common things we test
Bathrooms and other wet areas often hide asbestos sheeting behind the tiles

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my home has asbestos?
Homes built or renovated in Australia before 1990 are the most likely to contain asbestos — in fibro walls and eaves, roof sheeting, vinyl floor tiles and the linings of older bathrooms and laundries. Because asbestos can't be identified by sight, the only way to be sure is to have a sample tested by an accredited laboratory.
Should I get asbestos testing before renovating an older home?
Yes. If your home was built before 1990, have any materials you plan to cut, drill, sand or remove tested first — disturbing asbestos without knowing it is there can release dangerous fibres. For workplaces and commercial buildings, an asbestos register and assessment are generally required before work begins.
Do I need a clearance certificate after asbestos removal?
Victorian regulations require a clearance inspection after licensed asbestos removal before the area is used again, and for friable (Class A) removal it must be carried out by an independent licensed asbestos assessor. Even when it isn't mandatory, a clearance certificate gives you written proof the area has been left safe. We arrange this for you as part of the job.
What is asbestos air monitoring and when is it needed?
Air monitoring measures the level of airborne asbestos fibres during and after removal work. It is required for friable asbestos removal and often recommended for larger or sensitive jobs, such as work near occupied homes, schools or workplaces. We engage independent hygienists to carry out the monitoring and provide the results.
How long does it take to get asbestos test results back?
Turnaround depends on the laboratory and the number of samples, but results are typically available within a few business days, with faster turnaround often available on request. We will let you know the expected timeframe when we book your testing.
